If you’ve wandered across this blog somehow, chances are, you will be quite confused regarding its nature. This blog is a kind of reflective diary of my life, starting from 7th February 2010, and ending 7th February 2020.
This decade is a chronicle of my aspirations, and progress into the career of Psychiatry, in Australia. I am writing this on the day of the blogs opening and will add to this page every so often. It should be noted for anonymity’s sake certain details, particularly names of persons and institutions are changed or simply omitted entirely.
The challenge in entering a career path such as this is several fold. Namely, I’m already an Australian university student, and have been for several years. The problem is, I’m currently an IT student. This means I need to transfer (mid-year) to a Science degree, spend 3 years completing it (with a major in Psychology and a tbc minor) then, pass med school entrance exams and interviews, get a place in med school (4 years), then finally do further residence work. (~3 Years). The goal is simple, in 10 years time, to be a fully fledged, licensed, practising Psychiatrist.
It’s a long goal, and this journal is a reflection of my journey towards it.
As a time-saver I have the advantage of being able to enrol in several Science units (as electives) for this Semester. Then, if all goes well, I will make the transition in June/July. Namely this semester I am taking Biology, Chemistry, Psychology and (as required) Software Engineering.
Most of this journal is focused around academic content, but it is inevitable occasionally aspects of my wider life will creep in. I do not expect, nor intend, any facet of this blog to be of interest to anyone other than myself, however if it is, feel free to comment.
